Dogfish Head Come Back Late, Nip Fighting Dachsunds
|
Benefiting from Dusan Kontic's productive game, the Milton Dogfish Head downed the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 5-4. Kontic went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Dogfish Head. Reliever Vadim Rajnev picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. James Brandon took the loss. Ryan Long earned the save, his 4th.
Kontic had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Kini Grinter, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Dogfish Head a 5-3 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Kontic.
In postgame comments to the Milton Gazette, Kontic said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Milton has a record of 9-8.
