Piranhas Edge Past Lakers, 5-4
|
The Echo Park Lakers got a sterling performance from pitcher Karl Dandleton, but the Piranhas still prevailed, 5-4. Dandleton was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Panama City reliever Jonathan Lentz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bungay Osiman shouldered the loss. With the loss, Echo Park drops to 4-6.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder William Penn came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Echo Park pitcher Bungay Osiman, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Panama City on top, 5-4.
"It was our day today," Penn told the Panama City Times. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
