Clay Strokes 5 Hits
Tuesday, May 6th, 2042
Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Hal Clay said his club's tilt with the Bompton Baby Lakers "felt almost like batting practice." The 20-year-old left fielder went a remarkable 5-for-8 at the plate.
"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.
However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Surprise Shockers, who were topped by the Baby Lakers, 5-3.
"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Shockers manager said. "Sometimes Hal is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-8 and lose than go 0-for-8 and lose."
Hal Clay singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Danny Kas in the 9th, singled in the 10th, grounded out in the 13th and doubled in the 15th.
This season Clay is batting .400 with 2 home runs. He has scored 3 runs and driven in 3.
