Interns Cardenas and Cougars Wheeler Suspended for Fight Wednesday, July 9th, 2042 Yesterday at Alouettes Ballpark Carlos Cardenas and Mike Wheeler got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Capital Hill Interns and Valley View Cougars. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Cardenas will have to sit out 2 while Wheeler would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. This season Cardenas is batting .328 with 8 home runs. His totals include 31 RBIs and 32 runs scored. So far this season Wheeler has a 3-3 record with a 4.17 ERA. |
