Ducks End Manaolana's Streak
Saturday, August 9th, 2042
It was the best of both worlds for the Long Island Ducks today at Ducks Park, as they defeated the Ladue Rams 4-0 and also snapped Tangaloa Manaolana's 22-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old Ladue third baseman failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Manaolana, we just wanted to win the game," said Ducks skipper Luis Ruíz. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Manaolana frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
Manaolana has a .406 average and a .443 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 56 hits, 2 home runs and driven in 17 runs.
