Román's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games
Monday, June 23rd, 2042
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.
Marcos Román did it again, bashing 1 hit in the contest at Field of Plenty today. For the last 20 games in a row, the 22-year-old center fielder has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Ottawa Nationals beat the Providence Pilgrims 9-8 today.
"I'm happy I kept the streak going," Román told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Ottawa clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Marcos Román flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
This season Román is hitting .279 with 6 home runs.
