Streak Finally Over, Hakapuna Held Hitless Tuesday, July 1st, 2042 The hitting streak that Asheville center fielder Tikaroa Hakapuna had kept going for 20 games was ended today by the Richland Rails. Hakapuna was stymied over 4 at-bats today, but the rest of his team picked him up, taking the 5-4 victory at Asheville Park. "Hitting streaks come and go," Hakapuna said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win." So far this season Hakapuna has hit .332 with 5 home runs, 33 RBIs and scored 36 times. |
