Shadix Batters Richland Big Time
Friday, July 11th, 2042
Bethesda right fielder Byron Shadix went down swinging at Rails Ballpark today, knocking out 5 hits even as his Atoms fell, 9-8.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Shadix said after his 5-for-6 performance against the Richland Rails. "No offense meant to Richland, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the right fielder's improvements, saying Shadix spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Shadix agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Byron Shadix singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and flied out in the 10th.
Shadix on the season is batting .293 with 5 home runs. His totals include 27 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has played in 53 games.
