Torres Big Deal in Vancouver: Hits for Cycle
Wednesday, July 30th, 2042
José Torres did everything he could for the Vancouver Grey Wolves today -- literally.

The 35-year-old second baseman hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Grey Wolves, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Echo Park Lakers, 9-7, at LA Forum.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Torres reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Torres banged out 4 hits in 6 at-bats and totaled 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

José Torres tripled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Silverberry Mouhon in the 10th.

Torres is hitting .300 this season with 12 home runs, 43 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has 80 hits in 267 at-bats.
