Second Career As Broadcaster Awaits Retiring Matson
Saturday, November 1st, 2042
St. Louis starting pitcher Eric Matson says he has decided to retire from playing baseball in order to begin a career in the broadcast booth. Coaches and teammates have always considered Matson to be highly intelligent and articulate. "He's a smart guy and he knows a lot about the game," said Coeur bench coach Jack Elder. "He should do very well as a broadcaster." Team officials have confirmed that Matson will be invited to sit in as color commentator during local broadcasts next season. If all goes well, they said, he may eventually be elevated to the position full-time.
