Season Over for Alexei Ponikarov in Cleveland Saturday, July 19th, 2042 Alexei Ponikarov of the Browns just might have to call it quits for the season. The 27-year-old Cleveland shortstop received a possible season-ending injury against the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids recently at Atlantica. Ponikarov suffered a torn meniscus while colliding with a player at a base. The Browns medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 5-6 months. This season Ponikarov has hit at a .284 clip with 16 RBIs, 3 home runs and 19 runs scored. He has played in 57 games. |
