Raucous Springfield Stadium Crowd Propels Shooters to 5-1 Victory; Series Tied at 2
|
The Springfield Shooters and the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles will take the PL AA Championship to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Shooters beat the Screaming Eagles 5-1 at Springfield Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Springfield right-hander William Thompson was named player of the game in the win after he threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball.
Thompson gave Springfield a solid start. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings.
"Every team in baseball loses," Screaming Eagles manager Jesús Román said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
Game 5 is set to be played Saturday at Mercer Island Grounds. The scheduled starters for the game are Carlos Semprún for Springfield and Dawson Randolph for Mercer Island.
