Whales Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-1
The Virginia Beach Whales moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Atlantic City Sonics at Virginia Beach Grounds by a score of 3-2. Whales right-hander Daryl Benstead was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Whales a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-5 SL AA Championship.

Juan Oleastro aided the Virginia Beach cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder was 2 for 3 with 2 singles.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Oleastro said after the game.
