Bakersfield Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in R1
The Bakersfield Nobles got a strong performance from pitcher Pete Rhue, who stymied the visiting Alaskan Humpbacks en route to a 9-0 win in Game 3 of the PL AAA Championship today. The Humpbacks could never get a bead on the left-handed Rhue, who threw 6 innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game honors. The Nobles now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-5 series.

Rhue, the Bakersfield left-hander, went 6 innings, allowing no earned runs on 3 hits. He collected 5 strikeouts.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Bakersfield manager Zach King.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Jerome Grounds. Slated to start are Claudio Gonzáles for Alaskan and Jason Miller for Bakersfield.
