Yellows Hammered by Stafford, Drop Game 5 to BC
|
The Put-In-Bay BC moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Yucca Valley Yellows on the road at Ballpark of Yucca Valley by a score of 10-5. BC shortstop Zach Stafford was named player of the game after he belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win gives the BC a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-5 3L A Championship.
Put-In-Bay relied on the hitting of Rob Litten to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the BC on top, 8-5. For the game, Litten had 1 triple and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Put-In-Bay manager Rick Bell told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
