Pivotal Game Goes to Host Flamingos, 2-1
|
The Las Vegas Flamingos faced a challenging opponent in Hollywood Shredders right-hander Jesús Vidro, but did just enough to squeak out a 2-1 win in Game of the Third League Championship today. Las Vegas now leads - in the best-of- series. The Flamingos won despite the Shredders getting an excellent start from starter Vidro, who allowed no earned runs at scattered 3 hits over 6.1 innings.
Had Joo-Chan Park not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Park hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Flamingos.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Park told reporters after the game.
