Game was big. So was Sergio Gómez.
The Montana starter rose to the occasion at The Tank today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Pandas to a crucial 6-3 victory over the Panama City Piranhas. Gómez threw 6 innings allowing 1 run as the Pandas won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Third League Championship.
It could have been a different outcome for Montana, had it not been for Martín Pliego, the 22-year old left fielder . Pliego contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Montana up, 2-0.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Montana manager Andrew Schupick.
