Pivotal Game Goes to Host Cattlemen, 9-7
|
Cleveland catcher Bob Giles pounded Ft. Worth Cattlemen pitchers at The Cattle Pen, but it was not enough to keep the Browns from falling, 9-7 in Game of the Silver League Championship. Giles was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Browns slip to a - deficit in the best-of- series.
Ft. Worth took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Semo Hoaloha stroked a 2-run single to make it 9-7, Cattlemen.
"We were a little off-kilter to start the series, but we're getting things figured out now," Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson told reporters. "At least I hope we are."
