Villalva, Long Island Start Silver League Championship Strong with Home Win
The Long Island Lighthouse moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting New Orleans Voodoo at The Lighthouse by a score of 12-4. Lighthouse center fielder Oliver Villalva was named player of the game after he was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The win gives the Lighthouse a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.

The Lighthouse beat the Voodoo in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Eugene Bennett produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against New Orleans pitcher Markus Widner, Bennett gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We aren't quitting," New Orleans manager Chase Sims said. "Yeah, the odds are definitely in their favor, but they've got to earn it."
