Chu, Mississippi Start Silver League Championship Strong with Home Win
|
The Mississippi Mockingbirds moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Hollywood Shredders at Magnolia Park by a score of 9-5. Mockingbirds center fielder Wu-shun Chu was named player of the game after he was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win gives the Mockingbirds a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
Had Quinn Albracht not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Albracht hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Mockingbirds.
In comments to the Mississippi Daily, Albracht insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
