The Portland Evergreens moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Montana Pandas on the road at Panda Park by a score of 12-6. Evergreens first baseman Tetsu Matsumoto was named player of the game after he went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

The result might have been different for Portland, had it not been for Orlando Samundio. The shortstop produced a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Evergreens ahead, 7-5. For the game, Samundio had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," Portland manager Brandon Slouck told reporters.
