Ft. Polk South and Ithaca duked it out at Thunder Hawks Ballpark and the Thunder Hawks came out victorious.

The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks defeated the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 8-6, at Thunder Hawks Ballpark today. Leading the charge for Ft. Polk South was catcher Dermott Mann. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Ft. Polk South reliever Masaki Ito picked up the win, upping his record to 8-1. Armando González was saddled with the loss. Earning his 5th save for Ft. Polk South was Wynn Kelley.

Mann contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Ft. Polk South in the bottom of the sixth. With his team trailing 5-3, Mann took a fastball from Armando González and stroked the home run to left-center. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Thunder Hawks to leap in front, 6-5.

"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Mann, cracking a smile.

Ft. Polk South goes to 60-38, Ithaca to 28-70.
