The Akron Blimps knocked off the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 10-8, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Fernando Negrete, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Akron won. The third baseman was 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The Blimps, now 44-44, have won 4 in a row.

The Blimps grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out, Jeff Camp hit a 3-run home run off Sean Murphy, putting Akron in front, 7-6. For Camp, it was his 8th home run of the season.

In postgame comments to the Akron Times, Camp said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
