Victory Over Krewe Takes Mercer Island to 51-33
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles beat the Crescent City Krewe, 7-4, at Field of the Krewe. The Screaming Eagles got a fine performance from first baseman Matabei Maeda, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Dawson Randolph, the winner, improved to 4-2. He held the Krewe to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Ming Zhai earned the save, his 1st.

Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Carlos Rivera to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Rivera said.

Mercer Island occupies second place in the Premier AA at 51-33.
