Mariachis Fall Short at Mercer Island
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles beat the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 10-9, at Mercer Island Grounds. Asbel Kiprop was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The 27-year old center fielder was a menace to Nuevo Mexico all day. Mercer Island reliever Ming Zhai picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ron Gray was saddled with the loss. Mercer Island's record now stands at 49-31, placing them second in the Premier AA.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Kiprop hit a changeup from Ron Gray for a solo home run. The Screaming Eagles, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Kiprop.
