The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles powered past the Akron Blimps, 9-7, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Asbel Kiprop went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. Mercer Island is now 47-29, Akron 37-39.

Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Brian Drake to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"It was a solid team effort," said Kiprop after the game.
