Screaming Eagles Deal Ogres 5-1 Setback
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles trumped the Olympia Ogres, 5-1, at Mercer Island Grounds. Mercer Island catcher Brian Drake was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bobby Dunn got the win, improving to 5-7. He held the Ogres to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 0. The second-place Screaming Eagles have won 4 straight games.
Mercer Island took a 2-1 lead on Drake's 11th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Eugene Bell in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Mercer Island to the win.
