Shooters Take Down Blimps, 9-5
|
Shooters shortstop Gabriel Luzuriaga put his stamp on his team's 9-5 win over the Akron Blimps. Luzuriaga went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for Springfield in the contest. Horatio Hornblower, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Earning his 8th save of the year was Da'wan Gaines.
Springfield took a 6-5 lead on Bo Rajat's 53rd hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Rajat hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Akron pitcher Ramón Sánchez shaking his head.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Springfield manager Culley Adjeng.
Springfield leads the Premier AA by 4½ games.
