Blimps Clip Fighting Imps in Tight Contest

Akron Blimps starter Javier Merlo was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 4-2. Akron reliever Jorge Pagán picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jimmy Whitney was saddled with the loss. Vicente López earned the save for Akron, his 2nd of the year.
Akron took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, left fielder Alohinani Puanani hit a 3-run home run that electrified the crowd.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Merlo.
Ithaca's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
