Ken Jackson knocked in 3 runs to help Springfield beat Nuevo Mexico, 6-3. The right fielder collected 1 single, 1 double, and 1 home run. Mario Fuentes got the win, improving to 3-6. He worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 5. Horatio Hornblower picked up the save, his 4th.
In the top of the first, Jackson pounced on a 2-2 sinker from Paco Gómez and hit a 2-run home run. It put Springfield on top, 2-0.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Jackson told the Springfield Citizen. "You win just by scoring more runs."
Springfield improves to 44-21 with the win. They lead their division by 4 games.
