Beavers Sneak Past Baby Lakers, 3-2
|
The Bompton Baby Lakers got a superb performance from pitcher Duane Coleman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Ballard. The Beavers won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Coleman was named the player of the game. He threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball. Ballard reliever Gastão Fontana picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Duane Coleman took the loss. Andy Dundee notched his 10th save in 11 chances.
Ballard used the timely hitting of Rich Joyner to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Beavers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Bompton manager Pat Carrasco. "The effort was great."
Ballard bumps their record to 44-45 with the win.
