Octopi Lose Again, 3-2, to Beavers
|
Nebraska Aquarium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Ballard Beavers and the Ogallala Octopi.
The Ballard Beavers did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Ogallala Octopi at Nebraska Aquarium. Nobody did more than pitcher Yoshifumi Oshima, who captured player of the game honors. Oshima went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 6-3. Bernd Elders earned his 3rd save in 4 chances.
The Octopi had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Beavers going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old first baseman Rich Joyner came to the plate. Joyner hit a run-scoring single on a 1-0 slider from Ogallala hurler Juro Kobayashi. It was Joyner's 58th hit of the year.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Joyner said after the game.
Ogallala now has a 6-game losing streak.
