Beavers Get Close Win Over Shockers
|
The Surprise Shockers got a superb performance from pitcher José Pérez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Northwest Territory. The Beavers won the game, 2-0. In spite of the loss, Pérez was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. Northwest Territory reliever Christian Hebert picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Ángel López absorbed the loss. Claude Richardson was called on to finish, recording his 14th save.
Northwest Territory used the clutch hitting of Ramón Moreno to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Beavers ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Moreno. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Northwest Territory leads the Menard's R by 3 games.
