Shockers Pull Even With 6-3 Victory
Franklin catcher Justin Cook had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Cook was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Surprise beat the Fire, 6-3. Cook was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win was credited to Shimei Sugiyama in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Will Bass took the loss. Surprise has 3 straight wins, Franklin 3 straight losses.

The Fire had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Shockers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old third baseman Augusto Castro came to the plate. Castro hit a 2-run single on a first pitch changeup from Franklin hurler Will Bass. It was Castro's 41st hit of the year.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Surprise manager Sake van Arem.
