Shockers Get One-Run Win at Ballard
Surprise beat Ballard in a rain-soaked ballgame.

The Surprise Shockers did just enough to sneak past the Ballard Beavers, 5-4, at Field of the Sunchasers. Surprise pitcher Scott Powell earned player of the game honors. Reliever Scott Childers picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Gregory Collins took the loss. Jayson McMasters locked down his 1st save.

Surprise used the timely hitting of Al Custello to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Shockers ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Custello said after the game.

The Shockers, with only their 3rd win in 14 games, have not had much to write home about in 2042.
