Valley View rode a fine outing from starter Juan González to victory over the Capital Hill Interns at Hillandale Grounds. The final score was 3-2. Valley View reliever Dave Davis was the winner. His record is now 3-5. Zier Kenselaar took the loss. Ray Armstrong closed the door for Valley View, picking up his 13th save of the year.
Had Héctor Rivera not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Rivera hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cougars.
"It's a mindset," said González. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
At 38-45, the Cougars are currently 8th in the Silver R.
