|
Northwest Territory right fielder Rich Kelley had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Kelley was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times, even as Watford City beat the Beavers, 6-4. Kelley was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win was credited to Edgardo López in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Aaron Rigsby took the loss. Juan González earned the save, his 1st.
The Beavers had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Trash Pandas going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old right fielder Marcos Vargas came to the plate. Vargas hit a solo home run on a 0-1 cutter from Northwest Territory hurler Aaron Rigsby. It was Vargas's 2nd home run of the year.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Vargas said.
The win leaves Watford City with a record of 3-1.
