Canucks Fall Short, 2-1, at Ellesmere Island

It was a good time at The Igloo, where fans came to watch the Moose Jaw Canucks and Ellesmere Island Snowpeople get after it.
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople picked up a win at The Igloo, knocking off the Moose Jaw Canucks, 2-1. Starting pitcher Edgardo Moncivas, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Moncivas went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 6-5. Al Maxwell was credited with the save for Ellesmere Island, his 20th of the season.
Ramón Rodríguez had a big run-scoring single for the Snowpeople in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Ellesmere Island leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Mark Antrim and stroked the single to right. It was his 89th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Snowpeople ahead, 2-0.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Rodríguez told the Ellesmere Island Citizen.
At 44-35, the Snowpeople are currently 6th in the Silver R.
