Baby Blues Get Win, Extend Streak to 5
|
The Quebec City Baby Blues beat the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 6-2, at Dylan Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Ronald Dacanay, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. George Butler earned the win to go to 4-5. He allowed 1 earned run on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Quebec City has a 5-game win streak, while Ellesmere Island has lost 3 in a row.
The Snowpeople had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Baby Blues going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 18-year old center fielder Marcus Pattinson came to the plate. Pattinson hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch cutter from Ellesmere Island hurler Dennis Heath. It was Pattinson's 20th double of the year.
"This is a very good team," said Pattinson. "We have the chance to do something special."
