Biscuits Defeat Snowpeople, 8-3
|
Montgomery beat Ellesmere Island on the strength of starter Randy Smith's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 8-3 win. Smith got the win, improving to 9-3. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. Smith allowed no earned runs. Montgomery is now 40-27, while Ellesmere Island is 38-29.
Albert Monday had a big bases-clearing double for the Biscuits in the bottom of the second inning. With Montgomery leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Ki-seop Ch'oe and stroked the double to center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Biscuits ahead, 5-1.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Smith.
