The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople topped the Valley View Cougars, 5-4, with youngster Donald White playing a key role. White was 2-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for the Snowpeople in the win. Ellesmere Island reliever Parker Larsen was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was John Robertson. Picking up the save was Al Maxwell, his 11th.
Ellesmere Island took a 5-4 lead on White's 40th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which he hit off Juan Ramírez in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Ellesmere Island to the win.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," White told the Ellesmere Island Citizen.
The 5th-place Snowpeople improved to 24-20.
