Capital Hill pitcher Pedro Garza gave the Snowpeople all they could handle, but in the end, Ellesmere Island left Alouettes Ballpark with a 4-3 win. Garza allowed no earned runs on 1 hit over 6.1 innings. Ellesmere Island reliever Al Maxwell was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Juan Gutiérrez. The 'W' lifts Ellesmere Island's record to 17-14.
Ellesmere Island used the bat of Donald White to get the win. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Snowpeople ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Ellesmere Island manager Rich Hunter. "It's usually not just one thing."
