Warheads Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Snowpeople
|
The Warheads faced a stiff challenge from Ellesmere Island pitcher Edgardo Moncivas, but persevered to claim a win at Ballpark of Henderson. The final score was 5-3. Moncivas went 7.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Jack Geake picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Luis Ornelas was tagged with the loss. Earning his 5th save for Amarillo was Rafael Navarro.
Mario Roldán hit a 2-run triple off Luis Ornelas in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Warheads in front, 5-3. Roldán had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
"This was a good win," said Roldán.
Amarillo goes to 14-13, Ellesmere Island to 15-12.
