The Capital Hill Interns got a stellar performance from pitcher Tommaso Cugnoni, who handcuffed the Bethlehem offense en route to a 3-2 win at Alouettes Ballpark. Cugnoni went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, and struck out 10. His record improves to 2-0. The Interns are now 16-11, while the Angel Kitties fall to 15-12.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 2-2, designated hitter Kuniyoshi Kodo won it for Capital Hill. With a runner on 2nd, Kodo hit a 1-0 cutter from Yang-cheng Sang for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 3-2 win.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Capital Hill manager Arthur Franklin said.
