Battery Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
New Orleans catcher Aurelius Estrada had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Estrada was 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs, even as Charleston beat the Voodoo, 6-5. Estrada was named the player of the game despite the loss. Charleston reliever Juan Delgado picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Chin-yau Liu was collared with the loss. The save went to Branlyn Jaraba, his 2nd this season.
Benno Luby took Chin-yau Liu deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Battery on top, 6-5. In all, Luby had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Battery manager Matt Hunt. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The Battery, with just their 3rd win so far in 2042, have yet to catch fire.
