The Montgomery Biscuits topped the Valley View Cougars, 5-4, in USSL Rookie action at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. The player of the game was Montgomery pitcher and Washington, District of Columbia native Bernard Miller. The winning pitcher was Miller, now 2-0. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The Biscuits, now 11-5, have been on a roll in the early going.
Juan Martínez, who is tied for 2nd in the SR in runs scored with 13, chipped in for Montgomery with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Both teams played hard," said Montgomery manager António Pineda.
