Cougars Beat Visiting Angel Kitties, 3-2
|
The Bethlehem Angel Kitties and Valley View Cougars provided some drama at Hillandale Grounds.
Valley View Cougars starter William Averett pitched a strong game against the Bethlehem Angel Kitties at Hillandale Grounds, leading the Cougars to a 3-2 win. In 6.1 innings, Averett surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Ray Armstrong picked up the save, his 2nd.
The Cougars got a big boost from second baseman Joe Johnson who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning off Angel Kitties hurler Ángel Díaz. It was his 6th RBI of the season and put Valley View on top, 3-2.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Averett.
The Cougars, now 5-10, have not found much traction so far in 2042.
