Getting an impressive start from George Atwater, Montgomery beat Bethlehem by the score of 3-2. Montgomery reliever Brenden Cleverdon picked up the win to move to 1-0. Cris Durán suffered the loss. Qu-bing Li sewed up the save, his 1st.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Tadasu Sato, hit a single. It helped Montgomery seize the win.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Jeff Rutherford.
The Biscuits have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 1st win in 3 games.
