The Long Island Ducks picked up a win at Ballpark of Baxter, knocking off the Fort Knox Centennial, 4-3. On the mound for Long Island was left-hander Takayuki Shimizu, who played a pivotal role in the win. The save was credited to Liu-liang Liu, his 8th. Long Island is now 52-28, 4½ games up in the Premier R.

Long Island used the timely hitting of George Samuels to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ducks on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It was a good effort all around," said Samuels.
