Takayuki Shimizu pitched well, but his team, the Long Island Ducks, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the Memphis Music at The Stage in Memphis. Memphis reliever Felipe Salazar was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Takayuki Shimizu. Shusui Gato was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
The Music got a big at-bat from right fielder Paul Green. For the game, Green was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Memphis a 2-0 lead.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Long Island manager Luis Ruíz.
Memphis is 35-36 and Long Island, with the loss, 46-25.
